Our Dentists

Dr Philip Jacobs BDSc

Dr Jacobs is a graduate of the University of Queensland 1994 class, who loves to provide quality dentistry and personal attention to his patients. He has sixteen years of experience to offer, combined with gentleness and just plain kindness.

Dr Jacobs is so fussy he was always going to have to set up his own practice to provide the level of care he believes patients deserve.

In 2003, his dream was realised when the doors of Hope Island Dental Care Care opened. Each day it is a pleasure to spend time with his great patients in our lovely surroundings overlooking the Marina.

Dr Jacobs enjoys all aspects of dentistry so all services are available for the entire family at Hope Island Dental Care Care. Lots of time is allocated for your visit so that your treatment is of the highest quality.

Dr Jacobs is married to Liz, and has three children Emily, Matt and Charlie. If he is lucky he gets to go surfing, out to golf, or swimming at the beach.

Barbara Szylkarksi BDSc (Hons)

Dr Szylkarski graduated with honours from the University of Queensland class of 1994. After a stint travelling and working in Britain she returned to Brisbane and has her home there with husband Will and three lovely daughters Charlotte, Annabelle, and Millie. In 2006, Barbara joined Dr Jacobs, her old classmate and friend from university in his Hope Island practice.

There is a great rapport and respect between the two dentists at Hope Island Dental Care Care as their friendship is now twenty years old. They enjoy undertaking further study and having great discussions about new techniques and developments in dentistry.

Dr Szylkarski has a keen interest in implant dentistry and cosmetic dentistry as when she is not at Hope Island she works with one of Brisbane’s leading prosthodontist specialists. Dr Szykarski enjoys relaxing with her friends and family when she gets the time! She also loves to stay fit and will soon be tackling lots of gardening at her new home.
