Fissure Sealants

The purpose of sealing the natural fissures in your child’s molar teeth is to prevent those deep grooves harbouring food and subsequently plaque, leading to eventual decay. So yes we believe fissure sealants are an important preventative treatment and some adults can benefit from fissure sealants also if they have particularly deeply grooved teeth – it’s never to late.

It’s no coincidence that the molar teeth are where most decay happens. The anatomy of these teeth make it difficult to keep them clean. Fissure sealants eliminate the deep grooves in molar teeth to give your child a head start with their tooth brushing.

We are proud to solely use the multi-award winning Ultradent Ultraseal XT plus in all teeth we fissure seal.

DR PHILIP JACOBS

Ideally we would like to place fissure sealants as soon as your child’s adult molar teeth first emerge. Leaving teeth unsealed may increase the likelihood of your child needing invasive treatment in the future such as fillings, root canal treatment, crowns or extractions.

At Hope Island Dental Care our concern is always to use class leading, reputable and safe products with great results. We are proud to solely use the multi-award winning Ultradent Ultraseal XT plus in all teeth we fissure seal.

You many have heard of a dangerous substance found in some plastics called BPA. Unfortunately some fissure sealant products contain BPA, Ultraseal XTplus used at Hope Island Dental Care contains no BPA.
